Lost Whispers is a top-notch fantasy novel which will certainly entertain and engage readers young and old. The story takes off right from the start and continues to offer twists and surprises throughout. This reader found it hard to stop reading, all the way to the breathless finale... which would seem to leave room (and hope!) for a sequel.

The book is imbued with an atmosphere of wholesome fun, all the while the main character Trina is faced with one difficult challenge after another. Not everyone is who he or she appears to be, and Trina's intuition must guide her.

It's hard not to be impressed by such a well-paced, well-plotted fantasy novel full of great characters written by an author at such a young age. The quality of Lost Whispers stands on its own, no doubt, but having been written by an author as young as Samantha Meshla, you can only tip your hat and say "Keep up the great work!"

This is a very creative parallel world fantasy written by and for young readers. That said, I, a senior citizen, enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who still has a sense of FUN. This book was given to me to review without other compensation.
I would recommend this book for anyone who likes fantasy -- any age. It is interesting from paragraph one until the final sentence. There is something happening constantly... not boring. There is no offensive content. One would not have to worry about a young person reading it... I, my mother, and my 13-year old daughter have all read it, and each of us enjoyed it.
This is a time and place 'shift' book which taps into the elemental questions we all have whatever age we may be. What if this world is not the only one, and what if there are new challenges we can overcome? Trina, the main character, wakes up one morning in an unfamiliar world which she must explore and understand along with her little brother and her kitten! She discovers an enchanting world of dragons, and comes to realise that she alone has special powers which enable her to fulfil her destiny and purpose in the world as part of God's plan. Written in the first person, there is suspense and interest all the way making it a very engaging and fun story for older children.

For a UK audience I would say this is for an older primary school age P4 to P7
A nice book about dragons, Trina and Evan her brother which they have found a pendant and are mysteriously arrived into another world and met Willow a dragon keeper that she said to Trina "You are the one who will win the battle against Krey Redgazer" he secret killed almost all the dragons. So Trina is involved to save dragons. Interesting book to read for who like fairytales and dragons, i liked it.
I read this book first to make sure that it was safe for my children. I did not realize when I read it that the author was 11 years old when she wrote it. At first, I was very critical because some of the language and sentence structure needed work. There were also pop cultural references thrown in in places that didn't make a lot of sense. I read it from the perspective of an adult, but found myself absolutely loving the story. There were descriptions that made me FEEL as if I were living the story. And from an 11 year old child, that is absolutely remarkable. This author has incredible talent! When I handed it over to my two tween daughters, they ate it up. They absolutely loved every minute of it. It's a quick read and one that brings a child into a fantasy world that still manages to honor God. An excellent Christmas gift for a child aged 7-15, in my opinion. I told the author that she needs to turn this into a trilogy. She has such incredible plot points and just needs to flesh out the characters and the writing a little more and she'd have a masterpiece on her hands. What a talented author! KEEP WRITING!

Any kid who enjoyed the Magic Tree House books but has started to outgrow the early ones should love this book! The characters are consistent and sensible and have exciting adventures. The story has some definite Christian elements, which readers may wish to be aware of when choosing whether to read this book. The story grows to an epic adventure which should appeal to young readers who enjoy stories with dragons, particularly fans of Eragon.
