And the main reason why was because the author kept bringing up the fact that Shea had been in love with Ryan since he was 8 years old and since she is 13 years older that would have made her 21 at the time.

Now she is 34 and he is 21 and it is constantly being brought up that he has loved her since he was eight.

And it was brought up so often that I felt uncomfortable reading the sex scenes because thinking of Shea as an 8 yr old child will definitely put a chill on things.

This book didn't work for me on so many levels and Ryan's character wasn't that well developed in terms of her time in New York and her husband and the plot with Shea's mom and Ryan's dad did not make much sense on so many different levels.

I really liked her book, "Reviving Haven" but this book was a real struggle to finish.

I like books about younger men and older women but if Shea could've been infatuated with her as a teenager instead than I would've had no problem with it.

Bite Release eBook Cory Cyr Reviews

OMG this book has bought me to tears. There are very few authors who can do that but Cory has became one of them. This book wasn't what I expected it to be. There is so many twist and turns that Ryan and Shea's story takes you on, it's like a roller-coaster ride. This story is well done, the characters are ones you wont forget and the plot is something you will not see coming. Make sure you have tissues at the ready because this story will make you cry, laugh, piss you off. Alaska is beautiful in its own right but if men like Shea live there I want to go visit. And just when you think you've reached the end of Ryan and Shea's romance Cory gives us another treat, another book from Shea's pov but in a completely different way. I'm excited to continue the saga of their sensually, hot romance and dive deeper into the life they share in the bitter cold wilderness of Fairbanks Alaska.
So this book has a rather attractive guy on the cover that caught my attention, but the book itself was a pleasant surprise. Ryan is back home in Alaska for her dad's funeral while trying to escape her abusive husband in New York. She is feeling pretty low about life, she had lofty career goals as an actress that aren't coming true, her father and her were not on the best of terms before his death and her marriage is a failure. Ryan comes off as very strong willed, outspoken and rebellious, but actually, she's very down-to-earth, funny and self-aware of her strengths and weaknesses. She is even self-deprecating at times, because life hasn't turned out as planned so good things coming her way surely can't last, including love. Shea, the kid that Ryan used to baby-sit 13 yrs ago before she left Alaska (and is 13 years younger than her), is all grown up now and he never forgotten about her. As an 8 year old, he was convinced that Ryan was the one for him. At 21 years old, he is more determined than ever that this is still true. Ryan tries to reconcile this unusual attraction for a kid she knew while she was a college-aged adult with the present situation. Shea and Ryan's family are somewhat intertwined, including Shea's sister, Trina, being Ryan's best friend. Aside from the age gap, there are some other issues thrown in the mix to complicate things, further fueling the idea to Ryan that a relationship with Shea would not not be a good idea. As much as I really liked Ryan, I loved Shea. He was the perfect blend of hot and sexy with sweet and tender and he was far from being a jerk despite a turbulent childhood. He adored Ryan and cherished her, and he didn't give up easily even when things got tough. Ryan proved to be a survivor who could handle tough situations and she was even better off with Shea. Although Shea and Ryan's relationship was a large part of the story, there was still a component including Ryan's self journey to becoming more independent and less selfish while making something of her life, teaching herself self-forgiveness and allowing herself as many chances as it took to live the life she deserved.
I loved this book! I was initially captivated by the cover and the blurb…title not so much, but when I read the story I completely understand how the title means so much to the story. Andrew “Shea” has loved Ryan since he was 8 years old. Ryan moved away to New York City when she was 21 years old to pursue her dreams of acting. Those dreams didn’t pan out the way she thought they would and she now finds herself back in Fairbanks, Alaska. When Shea was 8 years old he had an issue with biting. When he learned that Ryan was leaving, he bit her and in return she bit him. They both have the scars to show they are bonded for life.

Thirteen years have now passed and Ryan is 34 years old. She is returning to her hometown to bury her father and finding an escape. This was the perfect time to run from her abusive husband, to whom she has been married to for 5 years. Shea is no longer the bratty 8-year-old boy that Ryan once babysat. He is now 21 years old and is studying to be a veterinarian. He has done well with his life considering the abuse he had to endure as a child from his father. He almost didn’t survive the last attack. Shea went through a dark phase in order to cope with the abuse. He used alcohol, drugs, and sex as an escape. Shea has been having sex since he was 13 years old.

When Ryan sees a tall, dark and handsome man at the funeral she has no idea who he is but is soon rendered speechless when she finds out who he is…”I had just been eye-f*cking the kid I used to babysit.”

Shea has been holding onto hope that one day Ryan would return home and see him not as the boy she used to babysit, but as a man who is worthy of being loved. Shea’s attempts at having Ryan see him as this man are unsuccessful.

Quote “I’m laying down the torch I’ve carried for thirteen years. I actually dreamed about this moment for years, and I honestly thought that if you saw what I had become you might want me, but I can’t force you. I can’t make this happen, regardless of how much I want it to.”

Shea’s heart has been shattered by Ryan not once, but now twice in his life. He is utterly defeated. My heart hurt for him. Ryan wants Shea, but she cannot get past the huge age gap between them, that she used to babysit him, and the fact that she is still married.

I have to admit that I rarely am able to read a book cover to cover without taking a peek at the end. For some reason I decided I was not going to peek and I was going to ride the wave of angst. Hours after I finished this book I was still feeling my stomach hurting. Shea and Ryan’s story touched a part of my heart and soul and it continued to remain. So what did I do?...I went back to re-read the story! They are stuck in my mind!

I can’t say enough good things about this book. The hotness factor alone is 5 stars! The love that Shea carried for Ryan all those years is unfathomable. Shea is an enigma, and one that deserves to be discovered. He hurts, he loves, and he holds strong when the walls are crashing down around them. There is no wrong age when it comes to love even at the age of 8 years old.
