This was a great little Novella. I liked that it was romance from start to finish. I love a good clean romance and I loved getting to know Julie’s characters a little better. Sophia and Colby are characters in Julie’s book Ashes, Ashes in her Hostage Negotiation series. I’ve read most of the series and love it. This just takes the story a little further and explores what happens ‘after’ the end of Ashes, Ashes. I highly recommend the whole Hostage Negotiation series. Another hit from Julie Coulter Bellon, who has become one of my favorite authors. Have you read From the Ashes? What’s your opinion? –Julie L. Spencer

I always wonder what happens after the book is over to the characters and this book not only tells you what happened next, it is a mini suspense-filled book all on its own!
Rating 3.5. I am not always one for short stories but I am glad I read this one so that I know this part of the story of Sophia and Colby's relationship. O. I enjoyed this story. One thing bugged me though. In book 2, John and Colby knew one another as next-door neighbors and in this book they were strangers....
This Novella is the perfect finishing touch to Ashes Ashes. I often find myself wondering what happens to the characters once the crime is solved and this gives a wonderful insight to that. The emotions of the characters dealing with the aftermath of a tragedy had me in tears. There were some sweet moments as well. I was happy to read that Colby and Sophia's relationship has become stronger than ever. Of course everything isn't back to normal. Someone is leaking information to the press. The mystery interlaced within the story gave just the right amount of intrigue to tie up the final loose end. Once again Julie Bellon has outdone herself with this.
FROM THE ASHES is a follow up story to ASHES ASHES, a novel. Ms. Bellon lets us see deeper into the romantic lives of the two main characters, Detective Colby Black and his girlfriend Sofia Naziri. I was especially excited to read this, to find out what happened after ASHES ASHES ended, since I knew it wasn't really the end to their story. It was fast paced, and kept me clicking to the next page. I read it in one sitting. I highly recommend this to any romantic who loves a great suspense.
